If you are having problems installing, downloading, or getting Strangelove to run, follow these steps: 1. Check the frequently asked questions below and see if any of the answers apply to your problem. 2. Make a post in the forums. 3. If none of the above works, email yrns personally. A FAQ for version 2.0 is forthcoming... Version 1.0 FAQ: 1. "The UMOD installer complains that I don't have such and such version of Unreal installed, when I actually do. What gives?" You have an early version of the UMOD package that was broken and for some ungodly reason got distributed all over the place. Download a new copy here, or if you hate umod's now, download the "bare" version here. 2. "OK, I've installed the mod, but it only works on the server. Not on the clients. The clients have invisible Strangeloves that don't really fire. Am I trippin' or what?" This happens when you've installed the "bare" version and didn't insert the "ServerPackages" line in your UnrealTournament.ini file (on the server, not clients). Open up your UnrealTournament.ini file and look for some lines that start with "ServerPackages=...". Add a line after them for Strangelove that reads: "ServerPackages=Strangelove". 3. "How do I install the 'bare' version?" Unzip the files from the archive and put them all in your UT system directory, likely c:\UnrealTournament\System\. Insert the "ServerPackages" line as described in the previous question. 4. "I hate UMOD's. They drive me nuts. Where's the sanity?" It's here. 5. "Other players riding Strangeloves appear to hang below the rocket, or blink around. What is that?" It's a horrid networking bug in the first version which will be fixed in the next. I sincerely apologize. 6. "How do I add one of the Strangelove mutators into my server startup script?" The full class names of the two mutators are "Strangelove.StrangeMutator" and "Strangelove.StrangeArena". E.g.: ucc-bin server CTF-Face.unr?mutator=Strangelove.StrangeMutatorHosted by BeyondUnreal. |
